From the Studio: Bach x2: Musical Duos at St. John's Cathedral

The concert season is starting up at St. John's Cathedral once again, and we had the pleasure of experiencing a sneak peek into this weekend's opening concert.  Conductor and music director of St. John's, Tim Westerhaus, played with two of Sunday's soloists, husband and wife duo Sheila McNally (oboe) and David Armstrong (violin).  They will be featured in Bach's Double Concerto in C minor for Violin and Oboe, BWV 1060.  Also on the program will by three other works by Bach, highlighting other duos like soprano/trumpet and double choir.  "Bach x2: Musical Duos" is this coming Sunday, October 16 at 3:00pm at St. John's Cathedral in Spokane.

Verne Windham got his start at Spokane Public Radio 20 years ago. “I came in to complain and they hired me.” He’s now the Program Director, as well as the host of Morning Classical and Concert of the Week. When choosing music for Morning Classical, Verne likes to keep the agenda as broadly defined as possible. For Concert of the Week, he focuses on the best of recent local performances, mostly classical in nature. For many years, Verne was also the conductor of the Spokane Youth Orchestra. He enjoys gardening, his vintage car and playing French horn.
