Our featured artist is retiring gallery member Cheryl Halverson with “fini”. Lois Kirkwood is the guest artist. First Friday, November 1, will also be a benefit for The Friends of Manito. There will be live music. The artists’ exhibits continue through the end of the month.
Cheryl Halverson, an Idaho native, works in water media and collage. She says: “To attempt a portrait of a single flower in its natural habitat intrigues me more than a still life. The body language of a living animal or person counts for more than a stiff formal portrait. Landscapes, real or imagined, rouse my painterly passions more than the most fabulous cityscape.”
Halverson has been a member of the Avenue West Gallery since November 2003, one month short of its opening. She has served as its publicity chair and graphics designer for publicity materials. This will be her last month as an active member, but she will continue having a gallery presence as a consignee.
