The Front Porch Rockers play music remember from the history of recorded music including folk, jazz, pop, swing and rock.
Music makers include Steve Simmons on guitar and vocals: Rick Singer plays brushes on the snare drum: Steve Sackett on fretless bass, plus Phil Kleinman on pedal steel, slide guitar, banjo and harmonica.
Steve Simmons has entertained both adults and kids as a solo artist and has led the Front Porch Trio, now The Front Porch Rockers. He has performed at the Fall Folk Festival, Pig Out, KPBX Kids concerts, and many venues and events. He hosted a cable TV show called On The Front Porch.
Rick Singer is a third generation Spokanite who’s operated his own photography studio for 44 years. Musically, he’s played drums with Prairie Fire, Shannondoah, The Planet Lounge Orchestra, Sidetrack, Haywire, The Meshuggah Daddies and many other bands. His grandfather started Dutch’s music in 1915, and the store lasted 98 years in downtown Spokane.
Steve Sackett began playing bass in a variety of rock bands in his teens, and with bands that included Hussy, Calico, and Oasis. He co-led a Dan Hicks and his Hot Licks Tribute band for over 15 years, plus Butterscotch Blond with Maxie Ray Mills.
Phil Kleinman has been performing off and on since high school in Arizona and San Francisco.
Kleinman began with guitar, and picked up other instruments like pedal steel, banjo, mandolin dobro and harmonica. He plays with many bands in the Spokane area.
