Inland Journal, Aug. 12, 2019: Providence Health Care CEO Elaine Couture

Providence Health Care

Today on the Inland Journal podcast, we talk with the head of the Providence Health Care system in Spokane. Elaine Couture is the executive vice president for Providence in Washington and Montana.

Recently, the company issued a press release that reported Providence spent nearly $144 million in eastern Washington  in 2018 for community support programs and uncompensated medical care. Most of that is for the latter. Providence reports it incurred $105 million in unpaid Medicaid and other government program costs and $17 million in free and discounted care for uninsured and underinsured patients.
