Activists in several Inland Northwest communities will protest the separation of migrant children from their parents after crossing the southern border during rallies on Saturday. The White House has since ended the policy but many families have still not been reunited.
In Spokane, the group Women's March Washington State is organizing a 1 pm rally at Grant Park. It's one of many nationwide on a day organizers have branded "Families Belong Together Action Day."
The group says its goals include establishing accuracy on what is happening with family separation and motivating people to continue to protest.
Besides Spokane, other events are scheduled in Tonasket, Pullman and Walla Walla, Washington and in Coeur d'Alene, Sandpoint and Lewiston, Idaho.
Meanwhile, a group from Idaho is sending 12 people to the nation's capital to engage in protests there.
