Inslee Announces A Round Of New Restrictions

TVW

Washington Governor Jay Inslee on Thursday announced new restrictions as the state crossed the 50,000 mark in confirmed coronavirus cases.

“We know that fewer, shorter and safer interactions are absolutely crucial in this fight," the governor said.

For weddings and funerals, ceremonies are permitted with a maximum of 30 people, spaced appropriately. Receptions are forbidden. Those changes will take place beginning August 6. The following changes will go into effect July 30.

“For restaurants and bars, indoor dining will be limited to members of the same household at the same table. Put simply, if you’re looking for a seat with people you don’t share a home with, you’ll need to sit outside," Inslee said.

The table size is limited to five people in counties that are in phase three. Alcohol can’t be served in restaurants after 10 pm. Bars must close their indoor service and gaming areas must be closed.

And in fitness businesses…

“In phase two, only five individuals, not counting staff, will be allowed for indoor fitness services at a time. This includes gyms and indoor pools, ice rinks, indoor volleyball courts and indoor tennis facilities. The fitness occupancy for phase three will be reduced to 25%," he said.

Inslee put the kibosh on indoor family entertainment activities such as miniature golf and bowling alleys. And he has reduced occupancy in indoor movie theaters to 25% in phase three counties.

Finally, the governor is requiring face coverings in common spaces, such as elevators and hallways and shared spaces in apartment buildings, university housing and hotels, and congregate settings such as nursing homes.
