Knox Gardner Shares “Concerto for Anna Maria dal Violin” by Melinda Mueller

Melinda Mueller was raised in Spokane where she went to Catholic school. She trained as a biologist at the University of Washington and is on the science faculty at Seattle Academy of Arts & Sciences. “Ledger” comes from her most recent book, Mary’s Dust (Entre Ríos Books, 2017) which was a finalist for the Washington State Book Award. Her other books include, The After (Entre Rios books 2016), with art by Karinna Gomez and music by Syrinx Effect. Her book, What the Ice Gets: Shackleton’s Antarctic Expedition, 1914-1916 (Van West & Company, 2001) received the 2001 Washington State Book Award and the American Library Notable Books Award for Poetry in 2002. Her other books of poetry are Private Gallery (Seal Press, 1976),  Asleep in Another Country (Jawbone Press, 1979), and Apocrypha (Grey Spider Press, 1988). Melinda was a coauthor of an early list of rare, threatened, and endangered plant species of Washington State.
