Spokane’s Meshugga Daddies plays Klezmer Music:hot Eastern European dance music, mixed up with Yemenite and Arabic tunes.
The FREE KPBX Kids' Concert takes place Friday, July 15 at Noon on the campus of Spokane Community College (SCC) in the Lair auditorium. The summer concerts are possible in part by event donors Harvard Park Children's Learning Center North, Numerica Credit Union, Rocket Bakeries, and Pizza Pipeline.
SCC Map: The Lair is Building 6, the same place where the Fall Folk Festival takes place.
Liz Dreisbach, clarinet, was hooked early by the folk clarinet, fueled by a father's obsession with German oom-pah and a Slovakian grandpa who urged her to play the polkas that came out of his Victrola. Liz also plays Irish music with the Howling Gaels.
Larry Weiser, saxophone and clarinet, practices elder law and is a retired Gonzaga Law School Professor. He’s been jamming in his spare time since he was a kid and plays reggae/ska/R&B/psychedelic rock with the Working Spliffs.
Eugene Jablonsky gets around. Spokane’s go-to bassist, he plays all kinds of music on bass and guitar. Besides klezmer, he plays jazz, salsa, western swing, tango, classical, Broadway shows, and Celtic music.
Steve Reich, keyboard and accordion, is our in house public defender. Steve’s musical super powers include instant recall of the complete Beatles book and vintage TV theme songs.
Rick Singer, drums, is one of Spokane’s top portrait photographers. Playing the drums and hitting a golf ball around the course when he’s not in the studio, Rick also plays with the country rock band, Sidetrack.
