Sleepy Hollow Fire Destroys Buildings in Wenatchee

Sheriffs officers are combing through a neighborhood in the central Washington city of Wenatchee Monday morning. They're trying to figure out exactly how many homes were destroyed in the so-called Sleepy Hollow Fire.

People were evacuated from several dozen houses nestled in canyons above Wenatchee.

The fire started Sunday afternoon. It moved fast, fueled by intense winds generated from thunderstorms. Bill Slauson is with the Washington State Fire Office, and says conditions remain a challenge.

The fire is 10-percent contained. There are no reports of injuries so far. Hundreds of firefighters are on the scene and more headed to Wenatchee.
