Federal housing officials have declared Coeur d’Alene’s St. Vincent de Paul as Idaho’s first federally-recognized EnVision Center.
The facility serves as a one-stop center for people looking for social services. Larry Riley is the executive director of St. Vincent de Paul. He says the agency will continue the work it’s been providing for the last decade and even expand into two new areas.
“We have a lot of the case management that supports people of low income, elderly, people with mental health disorders. We have an awesome child nutrition program, parenting classes, etc. But that’s a space we want to get better in, job readiness and veterans’ services," Riley said.
Jeff McMorris is the northwest regional administrator for the federal Department of Housing and Urban Development.
“We’re going to be bringing additional federal services, resources, just access to additional things for people who stop by St. Vincent de Paul, needing help, whether it’s education, housing, health, what have you," McMorris said.
The Coeur d’Alene EnVision Center is the second in the Inland Northwest. Spokane opened one about 14 months ago.
