From the Studio: Sixth Street Melodrama & Theatre

Brady Bourgard, of Wallace, Idaho's Sixth Street Melodrama and Theatre, calls in to talk about the community theater's annual summer melodramas. Opening this week, and running through the month of July, is "Sam Shovel, Private Eye, and the Case of the Maltese Pigeon" or "Hard Boiled...with a Side of Hash." Written and directed by Brady and his twin brother Eli, the play is set in 1930's Wallace and parodying the hard-boiled detective dramas of the period. The August melodrama will be "The Carpet Caper" or "Who Stole the Mayor's Rug?" written and directed by Cyndi Bentley. Both shows, in traditional melodrama fashion, encourage audience participation.

Verne Windham got his start at Spokane Public Radio 20 years ago. “I came in to complain and they hired me.” He’s now the Program Director, as well as the host of Morning Classical and Concert of the Week. When choosing music for Morning Classical, Verne likes to keep the agenda as broadly defined as possible. For Concert of the Week, he focuses on the best of recent local performances, mostly classical in nature. For many years, Verne was also the conductor of the Spokane Youth Orchestra. He enjoys gardening, his vintage car and playing French horn.
