From the Studio: Spokane Children's Theatre

Spokane Public Radio

Director Jennifer Miles and actors Nick Brownlee, Chase Cluck, and Lexi Thompson from Spokane Children’s Theatre visited the station to interview about their upcoming production, Harry Connick Jr.’s “The Happy Elf,” which was written with the hope of introducing a new generation of kids to the wonders of jazz. The musical follows Eubie the Elf, a lovable fellow who wants to spread Christmas joy throughout the town of Bluesville.

Performances will be at 4 PM on November 23 and 2 PM on November 24 & 25*, with more shows each weekend through December 16.

This play is suitable for all audiences.

*The performance on Sunday, November 25 will be ASL interpreted.

Verne Windham got his start at Spokane Public Radio 20 years ago. “I came in to complain and they hired me.” He’s now the Program Director, as well as the host of Morning Classical and Concert of the Week. When choosing music for Morning Classical, Verne likes to keep the agenda as broadly defined as possible. For Concert of the Week, he focuses on the best of recent local performances, mostly classical in nature. For many years, Verne was also the conductor of the Spokane Youth Orchestra. He enjoys gardening, his vintage car and playing French horn.
