It was a busy Friday morning of interviews in the KPBX studio. To start off, Verne chatted with Phil Baldwin, who is the conductor of the Spokane Youth Symphony. Phil talked about the upcoming youth orchestra season, including their opening concert on Sunday, November 6th at the Martin Woldson Theater at the Fox. The Spokane Youth Symphony is the top high school youth orchestra in Spokane, but there are three other groups for varying ages and levels of young orchestral musicians. Dr. Roberta Bottelli leads the Philharmonic, Heather Montgomery directs the Sinfonietta, and Dr. John Marshall is the director of the Youth Strings group.
Following Dr. Phil Baldwin were Marc and Judy Hafso, conductors of the Spokane Area Youth Choirs. They talked about their numerous groups that rehearse and perform throughout the year, including Spirare, Piccolini, Grazioso, and the recently formed Le Donne women's choir.
