Yikes! Spokane Sets Another Covid Record As Restrictions Are Set To Take Effect

Spokane COVID Response

Just when you think it can’t get any worse, it does.

Spokane County registered more than 900 new Covid cases from Saturday through Monday. That included a record 425 on Saturday, followed by 300 on Sunday and 217 on Monday.

New Covid restrictions take effect at midnight Tuesday in Washington and Governor Jay Inslee says it may already be too late.

“Average daily cases in our state have doubled just in the last two weeks. It cannot go on like this. We have to get this under control or our medical system will soon be overwhelmed," he said.

Spokane’s health district reports 106 people, including 81 Spokane County residents are hospitalized with Covid, including 24 additional people admitted  between Friday and Sunday. Only one person has passed from the disease during the last three days.

In north Idaho, the Panhandle Health District reported 345 Gem State residents have also tested positive for Covid; 52 are hospitalized.
