Marilynne Robinson’s novel Housekeeping begins on Feb. 9 on KPBX's The Bookshelf.
Robinson, a Sandpoint native who teaches at the Iowa Writer's Project. She will make a rare appearance in Spokane on Feb. 18 at Gonzaga University, and on Feb. 19 at Auntie's Bookstore.
Housekeeping was published in 1980 and was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize for Fiction and won the PEN/Hemingway Award for best first novel. The Guardian Unlimited named it one of the 100 greatest novels of all time, saying it was a "haunting, poetic story, drowned in water and light, about three generations of women."
