Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rogers says president Obama's call for an Authorization of Military Force against the ISIS group does not constitute a strategy. Last week, Obama sent such a request to the floor of the House.

The proposal would authorize armed force against “ISIS or associated forces,” It would not authorize the use of force in “enduring offensive ground combat operations”.

The representative for Washington’s fifth congressional district says last summer the president promised to destroy the terrorist army through air-strikes and assistance to other countries. She says since then, such efforts have “remained lacking”.

McMorris Rodgers: “And I want to hear and believe the American people want to hear what is the strategy to accomplish the goals, and how is the AUMF going to meet that goal”.

While the U-S has sent at least 900 air sorties against ISIS fighters, it is uncertain if the new military force authorization would allow for limited ground troop actions. McMorris Rogers says the administration has “courted the Mullahs of Iran” rather than concentrate on the ISIS fighters. To date the Iranians have also sent air-strikes against ISIS fighters, who are from the Sunni Islamic sect. The Iranians are Shiite Muslims.
