Spokane Tribe Partners With Hard Rock

The Spokane Tribe has decided on a brand name for their casino project on Spokane’s west plains. The name is likely to help the project, if the casino gets approval form the Washington governor's office.

The Spokane Tribe has signed a letter of intent with HRHHIP, LLC to use the Hard Rock Hotel and casino brand name at its proposed casino. Tribal chairman Rudy Peone says the highly recognizable name fits in well with Spokane’s history as a gathering place.

Peone: "In bringing Hard Rock to the Spokane metropolitan area, it’s only going to add to the regions reputation as a regional shopping hub. And it’s been that forever, ever since the tribe immemorial has been there. That's what Spokane was, Spokane Falls, for travelers for fish , for trading, and Spokane has always been a part of that.”

Peone says the facility will have a music theme, like other Hard Rock establishments, and feature a live music venue in addition to the Casino and hotel. It is expected to bring 5,000 jobs to the region.

The facility is still not a done deal, as the entire project must still be approved by Washington Governor Jay Inslee. The casino received federal approval from the Interior department of June 15th.
