TVW

Washington State will offer lottery drawings and other prizes for people who are vaccinated against COVID-19.

In a press conference Thursday, Governor Jay Inslee said the prizes, which include money, gaming systems, tuition and tickets to sporting events, will encourage immunization.“The state is going to do five weekly drawings for vaccinated Washingtonians. It will be using the names of the people who have had their information entered into our Department of Health database after they got vaccinated. The first four weekly lottery drawings will include a $250,000 prize. The fifth and final lottery will be an award of $1 million.”

Anyone who is vaccinated in the state and had their data entered is eligible, regardless of when their vaccination occured.

Currently about 63% of Washington residents 16 and older have had at least one dose of the vaccine.
