Some COVID-19 vaccine doses delayed due to weather

Weather delays have pushed back both first and second dose vaccinations around the country as the nation experiences a historic cold snap.

Those delays have impacted Spokane vaccinations as well. Providence Healthcare announced Tuesday that Wednesday’s second dose vaccines would be delayed due to weather.

The provider that’s operating the state-run Covid vaccination site at the Spokane Arena is preparing to make appointments Tuesday afternoon for another round of shots.

CHAS Health says it will open its online portal and phone bank at 5 pm to sign up another 4,000 patients.

Spokane’s CHAS Health has filled its new appointments logbook for four more days of Covid vaccinations.

Kelley Charvet from CHAS says the provider opened up its portals last night [Monday] after having been assured it will receive 4,000 new doses from the Washington Department of Health today [Tuesday].

Covid Vaccination Continues This Weekend At Spokane Arena

Day two of inoculating people at Spokane’s mass vaccination site at the arena has been less harried than day one.


Kelley Charvet from CHAS Health, which is in charge of administering the vaccines, says fewer people were scheduled for appointments and the traffic on the streets leading into the arena was better controlled.

Thousands Seek Covid Vaccines At Spokane Arena Megasite

It took only about two hours for 3,000 people to sign up for Covid vaccines that will be administered at the Spokane Arena.

On Wednesday, people logged onto the CHAS Health website and jammed its phone lines for their chance to claim one of site’s first 3,000 doses from the state.

Vaccinations against the coronavirus are on track to begin at the Spokane Arena Wednesday morning.

The Community Health Association of Spokane, or CHAS, is the lead provider under the direction of Washington’s Department of Health and the Spokane Regional Health District.

Spokane’s mass Covid vaccination site is scheduled to open Wednesday at the Arena. It will be operated by CHAS Health, which has been operating a testing site in the facility’s parking lot.

CHAS Remembers People Who Are Homeless With Video

Spokane’s CHAS Health normally holds an in-person ceremony on the Winter Solstice honoring people who are homeless. It’s officially the first day of winter and the longest night of the year.

This year, because of Covid, CHAS produced a video instead which features the voices of people on the streets.

Spokane's CHAS Health Expands Rapid Covid Testing

Spokane’s CHAS Health is expanding its rules that govern to whom it will provide rapid Covid testing.

Jason Campbell from CHAS says the organization has been testing certain people with Covid symptoms. They include health care workers, first responders and people who live in congregate care facilities. Now, he says it will provide rapid tests for students and faculty in the K-12 school system who show Covid symptoms.
