It's nine o'clock on a Friday morning and I'm sitting with a group of Spokane Public Schools teachers and staff in a room ringed by colorful flags from around the world. They’re here to take place in a Refugee Simulation put on by World Relief Spokane and led by simulation coordinator Dick Mandeville.

Wednesday on the Inland Journal podcast, stories from refugees and immigrants who have made the Inland Northwest their home. Four people, each from a different country told their stories at an event called Refugee and Immigrant Voices: Stories of Hope” hosted by Refugee Connections Spokane.

The proposed Senate health care plan is coming under fire from some in Washington state who fear what the changes could bring to the thousands who were able to get health insurance under the Affordable Care Act, as well as facilities that treat them.
