When Adrien Koch retired last summer from her job with FEMA in the Bay Area, she and her husband resettled in the wooded mountains of north Idaho. They had visited only a few months before on a vacation but had quickly fallen in love. For Koch, Idaho reminded her of the California she knew in the 1970s.

The Davenport staff and owners opened the new Davenport Grand Hotel in Spokane today. The convention-style hotel holds 716 guests rooms, 3 restaurants/bars, and 63,177 sq feet of meeting space.

Ads for Riverfront Park say this is the last summer to enjoy the park with its current features. That’s because voters approved a bond in November to redesign the park. The city is gearing up to hire a team that will design it.

Conservationists and an Indian tribe are gearing up for a new round of battles over an old gold mine in the heart of Idaho's Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness. The Nez Perce Tribe and five Idaho conservation groups have filed a formal objection to the US Forest Service's approval of a four-mile long road to be carved out in the back country to allow access to an old mining tunnel.

According to the monthly update released Wednesday by Washington's Employment Security Department, the state’s unemployment rate stayed flat in February.
