Spokane Public School Board Candidate: Kata Dean

Spokane Public School District voters will see 13 candidates on their ballot for two open positions this year. 

Nine of those candidates agreed to speak with Spokane Public Radio's Rebecca White. 

Today we’re introducing Kata Dean. She is a stay at home mother of 5 who said her highest priority is getting children back in school, and caught up after a year at home.

Thirteen candidates are running for two seats on the Spokane Public School Board of directors. Spokane Public Radio's Rebecca White spoke to ten of those candidates in a series of interviews.

Today, we’ll hear from Karina Hernandez. She is a stay-at-home mother who says she's running in hopes of increasing resources for children with non-traditional learning styles and disabilities.

Spokane County’s filing week closed with nearly 198 candidates filing for 122 public offices.

Spokane County will soon publish its first local voters guide in more than a decade.

That guide will include both for, and against sections for several local tax levies, a section the county auditor’s office says it needs volunteers to finish.

We’re introducing Naghmana Sherazi.

Sherazi currently works in the office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at Gonzaga University, but is also a scientist. She previously studied chromosomes and DNA to search for cancer and other genetic mutations.

She is an immigrant from Pakistan, is a renter, a working mother and said she knows what it’s like to struggle to make ends meet.
