Teachers in a few western Washington school districts remain on strike as they negotiate with administrators over pay raises funded with new money from the state. The Tacoma and Battle Ground Districts today [Monday] asked state arbitrators to help with negotiations.

In eastern Washington, there are no strikes, but several districts are still at the bargaining table.

UPDATE August 29 at 10 a.m. : The Spokane Education Association and Spokane School District have come to an agreement on a new contract. No details have been released. The proposal will go to union members, perhaps later this week, for their approval.

Meanwhile, West Valley teachers ratified their new contract at a meeting Tuesday evening.

School teachers seeking a pay raise took to the sidewalks in downtown Spokane today [Thursday]. It’s one week before the new school year starts and they’re in the middle of negotiations with the district over how to distribute millions in new money from the state.
