We’re all about music on this week’s Northwest Arts Review. The Spokane Symphony’s Mateusz Wolski drops by to share insights learned during the pandemic year, Andrea Olsen fills us in on the Spokane Valley Summer Theatre’s upcoming in-person events, and we’ll meet Bozeman Symphony Orchestra composer-in-residence Scott Lee. We’ve also got music from our studio, one of the student performances recently recorded, and Classical era sounds from the Spokane Symphony’s online spring series, beginning with this Mozart.

We celebrate the latest recording from American violinist, Hilary Hahn. It's called "Paris," and it features Hilary, joining an ensemble she has a long history with,  l'Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, led by Mikko Franck. Hilary loves Paris, and each of the selections on the album has a connection with that city, including the two serenades by Finnish composer, Einojuhani Rautavaara, dedicated to Hilary Hahn, and here featured as world premiere recordings.

Canadian-born violinist Lara St. John and collaborator, pianist Matt Herskowitz, have a new album out on Lara's own Ancalagon label. She and Jim Tevenan chatted about her background and the new album that features Beethoven's Kreutzer sonata and the César Franck Sonata in A.

Israeli violinist, Itamar Zorman, will perform this evening with the Gonzaga Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Kevin Hekmatpanah. He spoke with Verne this morning about his background in music, how the immigration of people from Europe, Russia and other places in the world, have enriched the musical culture of Israel, and performed a preview of tonight's concert.
