Chinese Lantern Festival Returns to Spokane

Spokane's first-ever Chinese Lantern Festival was such a success, it's coming back to Spokane's Riverfront Park this fall, with all-new light displays.

Spokane Public Radio is a media partner of the celebration from September 16 - October 30.

Lighting up downtown Spokane's Riverfront Park, the festival includes 37 gigantic lantern displays, a cultural village, live performances, interactive exhibits, authentic Chinese cuisine and more.

One of the new displays is the Spokane Public Radio "Dreamy Gallery."

Some highlights and new features of this year's festival include:

  • All lantern displays are NEW (with the exception of the return of the beloved, iconic 196 ft. dragon!).
  • 37 lantern displays -- 10 more than last year!
  • An interactive, educational area featuring activities like the Dino Dig – a place where kids can dig for dinosaur “fossils.”
  • More Asian-style food options, including the return of "Deng Chu," featuring authentic Chinese menus created by nationally-recognized Spokane chef/restaurateur Jeremy Hansen.
