Chris Kelsey and Gina Freuen, both potters and sculptors, met with E.J. Iannelli to talk about the fifteenth annual Little Spokane River Artist Studio Tour and the accompanying preview exhibit that has been running in downtown Spokane since early September.
The Little Spokane River Artist Studio Tour is an all-day, open-house-style event that allows the public to visit the working studios along its namesake river.
Five studios—Collista K, Denise Steen, Victoria Brace, Gina Freuen and Jill Smith—will take part in this year's tour. Between them, they will feature 48 artists from the Spokane area as well as Oregon, Idaho and the west side of Washington state.
Work on display includes ceramics, paintings, photography, sculpture, jewelry, fiber arts and mixed media from established artists as well as new, up-and-coming talent. For the first time, there will also be a "Books on the River" literature table featuring Ty Brown and two other regional authors.
The tour takes place on Saturday, September 24 and runs from 10am to 5pm. Maps, driving directions and studio information are available at the Little Spokane River Artist Studio Tour website.
The tour's preview exhibit will continue to run at Trackside Studio in downtown Spokane until Thursday, September 22.
