All this week (the first week of winter), Spokane Public Radio volunteers and staff are sharing selections from "Snow-Bound: A Winter Idyl" by John Greenleaf Whittier.

First published in 1866, this long, narrative poem tells the story of a Massachusetts family confined to their rural farmhouse during a long winter snowstorm.

You can read the full poem online via the Poetry Foundation here.
