Sara Goff, Nathan Pichette, Drew Harris and Melissa Wilson joined E.J. Iannelli in the KPBX studio to preview their upcoming production of 26 Pebbles at Eastern Washington University.
Written by Eric Ulloa, 26 Pebbles is a docudrama about the 2012 Sandy Hook elementary school shooting.
Goff is the director of EUW's theater program and is overseeing this production. Pichette is playing Michael, Harris is playing Yolie, and Wilson is Jenn.
Their characters, like all the others in 26 Pebbles, are based on actual Newtown community members who Ulloa interviewed prior to developing his play.
Among other things, the student actors each talked about their desire to portray their characters authentically in order to honor their stories. Goff discussed the play's message of finding hope and light amid the tragedy's darkness by embracing the idea of “choosing love.”
This production of 26 Pebbles opens Friday, November 11, 2022 and runs until November 19 at the Eastern Washington University Theatre.
