This week we’re continuing our series profiling city council candidates running for the open seat in the Northeast, City Council District 1.

Spokane Public Radio’s Rebecca White discusses homelessness, policing, affordable housing and the environment with candidate Naghmana Sherazi, who is running for the open District 1 seat. The seat is currently held by Kate Burke, who is not seeking re-election.

Sherazi is a Cytogenetic Technologist and has studied DNA and Chromosones. She also works in the Office of Diversity and Inclusion at Gonzaga University.

She is running against Luc Jasmin III who owns a daycare and is a member of several boards, and Jonathan Bingle, a business owner and former pastor.
