Angel Springs Fire Continues to Grow

The Angel Springs Fire continues to burn in Lincoln County north of Davenport.  Jeff Sevigney, a spokesperson for the Washington State Patrol says the fire, which started yesterday a little before 3 p.m., is growing.

“The fire has remained very active throughout the morning and into the afternoon," said Sevigney.  "We’ve seen a dramatic increase in acres. Right now we’re at approximately 3,600 acres.”

The Lincoln County Sheriff’s office has issued additional evacuation orders today.

“The areas that are affected are the Mill Canyon area, Bald Ridge Road and out towards Foster Road," said Sevigney. "So the folks who have received those evacuation notices, we ask that you please heed those warnings. Firefighters are out doing structural protection today. They are working closely with regional resources, utilizing aircraft, and also local farmers who have brought out their farm equipment and are helping firefighters establish containment lines where it is appropriate.”

Sevigney says the wind has played a large role in the growth of the fire today and that the fire is still zero percent contained.

“If folks don’t need to be in the fire area, we ask that you stay clear of the area," said Sevigney. "We have lots of resources coming onto the fire area and visibility can be poor. So if you don’t need to be in the area, please stay out!”

The Lincoln County fairgrounds is currently open to people who have been evacuated and their animals.
