Celtic Nots and dancers perform for KPBX Kids' Concert

January/February 

Jazz at Lincoln Center remembers Ed Bradley, journalist and host of the program. Bradley died on November 9, 2006, at age 65.

Performance Today moves to Minneapolis.

Harlan McKasato returns to host Native America Calling which airs on KSFC.

March/April 2007

Special community programs include “Celtic Traditions” Kids Concert, and a health forum on Autism.

Phillis Silver, independent producer and storyteller, brings a special series to Spokane Public Radio called Take The Back Road, featuring stories from small inland northwest communities.

Asian Intonation KPBX Kids' Concert

May/June

Special events include a Kids Concert called “Asian Intonation,” Pearl Django performing for the annual Thank You concert, and the June Kids Concert at Riverfront Park featuring Carlos Alden and Merri Shulz.

Musicfest students perform live on the air during the Morning Classical program with Verne Windham.

Amanda Loder

A Public Radio Talent Quest is held to find the next hit program. 

Amanda Loder joins SPR’s reporting staff.

July/August 

Community programs include An Evening Under the Stars, a KPBX

KPBX Blues Cruise

Kids’ Concert featuring The Olinda Duo, and The Blues Cruise.

Mike Wiebers hosts a summer program on KPBX called Short ‘n Sweet, featuring classical pieces less than five minutes in length.

A two hour special on the music of Paul Simon airs on the 4th of July.

 

September/October

Community programs include an Election Forum in October, and a Fall Folk Fest preview for the October KPBX Kids’ Concert.

November/December 

KPBX broadcasts live from The Fall Folk Festival, which is held at Spokane Community College.

KPBX Kids’ concert in December features music from the holidays in Australia.

Shelley Sharp joins the staff as marketing & public relations coordinator.
