Fire Station Update: A New Door Opens

A new carriage door, named for the Spokane Fire Fighters Local 29 & Spokane Fire Fighters Credit Union, waits to be installed in the front center space of SPR's former Fire Station No. 3.

Construction continues on Fire Station No. 3 at Monroe and Sharp, preparing for SPR's eventual move. The space includes new doors: all five large carriage doors that were used for fire apparatus are being replaced by doors that keep the character of the originals but are more practical and secure.

The elevator is installed, providing much-needed public access to the future SPR studios. Some of the walls are painted, and crews are installing ceiling panels. Some service areas, including the restrooms, are taking shape. But it will still be months before the space is truly ready for SPR to move in.

While most of the $5 million needed for the project is is secure, SPR still has more than $300,000 to raise, as of the start of April. If you still haven't made a donation to Moving to a Sound Future, please consider a Named Gift Opportunity.
