From the Studio: Symphony Week Part Five

Spokane Public Radio

Symphony Week wraps up with Spokane Symphony's Music Director, James Lowe, and Guest Pianist, William Wolfram, discussing American masterpieces and their approaches to interpretting and performing them.

Spokane Symphony performs Masterworks 1: American Rhythms, including works by George Gershwin, John Adams, and Aaron Copland, Saturday, September 14 at 8 PM, and Sunday, September 15 at 3 PM. Doors open 90 minutes prior to the performance. For tickets and more information, visit https://spokanesymphony.org/concerts-tickets/masterworks-1-american-rhythms/.

Verne Windham got his start at Spokane Public Radio 20 years ago. “I came in to complain and they hired me.” He’s now the Program Director, as well as the host of Morning Classical and Concert of the Week. When choosing music for Morning Classical, Verne likes to keep the agenda as broadly defined as possible. For Concert of the Week, he focuses on the best of recent local performances, mostly classical in nature. For many years, Verne was also the conductor of the Spokane Youth Orchestra. He enjoys gardening, his vintage car and playing French horn.
