The Public Facilities District accepted Spokane Public Schools' terms to operate a stadium downtown during their meeting Friday. The PFD, which owns the Spokane Arena and the new Podium complex, has agreed to operate a downtown stadium and allow the school district to own it, says CEO Stephanie Curran.
It has also agreed that a share of all revenues generated at the facility, whether from school, or private events, will go back to the school district, pending final negotiations with the district.
The Spokane school board discussed whether the stadium that would replace Joe Albi should be built at the current site or downtown during their meeting last week. It voted 4-1 to start negotiations to build it downtown with the PFD, if the organization agrees to equity, revenue sharing and other considerations.
The deal will not be final until the school board approves a final agreement.
