Dancers discuss their new performance that deals with light and perspective

Lexie Powell, Vincas Greene and Liz Booth of Vytal Movement Dance Company joined E.J. Iannelli in the KPBX studio to provide some background on their new performance, Prisms, which opens this weekend.

The concert features a total of seven new works by six choreographers including Powell, Greene and Booth as well as Hannah Donk, Melanie Rose Huff and Lauren Hovik. From staging to motion, they incorporate themes of light, shadow and perspective.

The three dancers and choreographers described each of the pieces in addition to talking about Powell's recent appointment to artistic director. Powell also offered a preview of some upcoming events and collaborations, such as 12 Minutes Max Spokane and Rising Tide.

Prisms opens on Friday, April 14 at Vytal Movement's studio at 7 South Howard Street. There are additional performances on April 15, 21 and 22, with both matinee and evening showings on the Saturdays.
