Technical Difficulties

Dear Listeners:

It’s been a technically challenging few weeks at SPR.

First, we’ve had several weeks of static and “drop outs” caused by satellite-transmitter interference. We’ve solved this issue temporarily by switching feeds, and we are working on a more permanent fix over the next several months. I’m pleased to say we have received a state grant to assist with this and other technical upgrades. For the time being, listeners with very high-quality audio systems may hear some reduction in quality, but it should not affect most listeners.

Second, much of All Things Considered on KPBX was lost on Sunday, April 24, 2022 due to a software issue. We are working to address this immediately, as soon as we find why and how this occurred.

We realize our citizens and our communities rely and depend upon our service. We regret the lapses, and we are working to address these issues as soon as possible. We appreciate your patience and support as we make necessary changes and upgrades.

Sincerely,
Cary Boyce, President and General Manager
