Liberty Gallery Features Printmaking Art by Spokane Print and Publishing in April '23!

The artwork by the Spokane Print & Publishing Center (SPPC) will include printing techniques such as letterpress, wood block, linoleum relief prints, screen print and book arts. Combined with the printing techniques are the use of handmade papers, acrylic paints, pastels, and collage. The show runs from March 26 – April 30.

The SPPC is a non-profit membership-based community print shop that provides an immersive learning space dedicated to print making, publishing, and creative play. Located at 1921 N Ash St in Spokane, they provide access to equipment, resources, and expertise to empower their students to execute their own print, book, writing, fabrication, and printing projects (SpokanePrintfest.org).

Participating artists include Thom Caraway, Bethany Taylor, Mel Hewitt, Dorian Karahalios, Reinaldo Gil Zambrano, Pixie Carlson, Aimee Clark, Kris Dinnison, Cooky Davies, Erik Peterson-Davis, and Sarah Windisch.

The Liberty Gallery is on the Mezzanine in the Historic Liberty Building, 203 N Washington St ~ there will be a First Friday reception on April 7 from 5–9pm.

Also, on April 8th from 1pm until 3pm the SPPC will demo techniques used to create pieces in the show. They will demonstrate digital transfer methods to apply photographs and other laser jet prints onto various surfaces. This can be done without presses or other specialized equipment! This demo at the Liberty Gallery is a free event and open to the public.
