Cassandra J. Bruner, the 2019-2020 Jay C. and Ruth Halls Poetry Fellow at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, earned her MFA in poetry from Eastern Washington University, where she also served as Managing Editor of Willow Springs Books. A transfeminine poet and essayist, her writing has appeared in, or is forthcoming from, Black Warrior Review, Crazyhorse, Muzzle, New England Review, Ninth Letter, Third Coast and elsewhere. Her chapbook, The Wishbone Dress, was published through Bull City Press and won the 2019 Frost Place competition.
