Bike to Work Week 2015

May is National Bike Month with cities around the country encouraging two-wheeled commuting to work, school and everything else.  This May, Spokane Public Radio is proud to once again serve as a Gold Wheel Sponsor for Bike to Work Week, our local initiative from Spokane Bikes.  If you've ever considered joining the ranks of bike commuters, this week provides several opportunities for group rides, information gathering, and commuter camaraderie.  Check out the events below, and we'll see you there!

May 18 - 7am-9am
Bike to Work Week Kick-off Breakfast at Riverfront Park.

Wake up for some coffee and pancakes to get your week of commuting off to a great start.  Listen to some live music and meet other commuters--you may even find a riding buddy!  Please RSVP on Facebook so they have enough batter!

May 18-22 - Noon
Commute of the Century Lunch Rides

Spokane City hosts this series of daily six-mile rides exploring some of Spokane's neighborhoods.  It's a great time to provide feedback to help develop the Spokane bike network. Register at the City of Spokane's website.

May 20 - 7am-9am
Energizer Stations - at SPR and all around town

We'll have snacks to help refuel you on your ride as well as some fresh Craven's Coffee to perk you up!  To find other energizer stations, check out out this map.

May 20 - 6pm
Ride of Silence starting at Riverfront Park

This group ride is to honor cyclists killed or injured on the road.  The event starts with a brief dedication.  Meet near the runner sculptures.  Helmets required.  RSVP on Facebook.

May 22 - 5:30pm
Bike to Work Week Wrap-up Party at River City Brewing

End your week of bike commuting in style with a drink and snacks at River City Brewing.  You'll have a chance to win great door prizes and hear about the week's activities!  RSVP on Facebook.
