Former Idaho State Representative Aaron Von Ehlinger has been arrested on rape charges.

Von Ehlinger was arrested on a warrant in Clayton County, Georgia on Saturday. The warrant was first issued earlier this month after a four-month investigation by the Boise Police Department.

Ehlinger is accused of raping a 19-year-old legislative intern early this spring. She reported the allegations to both the Boise Police Department, and the Idaho State Legislature. Ehlinger has argued the encounter was consensual. He resigned amidst a legislative ethics investigation into his conduct in April.

Ehlinger appeared before a Clayton County Judge this morning, where his bond was denied.

A call to Clayton County about Von Ehlinger's case was not immediately returned.

During the ethics probe, the 19-year-old intern, who has been identified as Jane Doe, had her name publicized by Von Ehlinger’s supporters. She has also filed a civil lawsuit alleging retaliation and violations of the equal protection clause.
