Idaho Congressman Part Of GOP Group That Tried To Enter Impeachment Hearing

Russ Fulcher/Twitter

Idaho Congressman Russ Fulcher was part of a group of Republican House members who tried to enter an Intelligence Committee hearing related to the presidential impeachment proceedings today [Wednesday].

The Idaho representative said in a statement released Wednesday afternoon that he and his colleagues were protesting the secrecy of the hearings overseen by California Representative Adam Schiff. Fulcher says it wasn’t “a protest of the impeachment hearings” per se.

Fulcher says the information divulged in the hearing rooms is not classified and, therefore, the public, including Congressional members, should be able to sit in and listen.

Schiff stopped the proceedings and walked out before the hearing started when the Republican group entered.

Fulcher said Congressional representatives will eventually have to vote on the impeachment charges and will need as much information as they can get. But he and his colleagues argue representatives not on the Intelligence Committee have been unable to get transcripts of the hearings and depositions that have been held so far.
