Governor Jay Inslee says Washington will follow President Joe Biden’s directive and prioritize teachers and childcare workers for Covid vaccinations.

Inslee issued a statement Tuesday afternoon that says the state is moving teachers and licensed childcare workers to the first tier of the 1-B coronavirus vaccination level.

He says the state will direct them to existing health providers who are administering the vaccines. Another option is the Federal Retail Pharmacy Program, which works to inoculate people through national and independent pharmacies.

He says those folks can work now to schedule shots with their providers. Inslee says this should help educators become more confident as they return to in-person learning.

Inslee says he will also soon announce that critical workers in certain congregate settings will be eligible for vaccinations. They will include grocery store employees, farmworkers, food processors, bus drivers, and corrections workers.
