Gonzaga and the University of Washington are marking a construction milestone in Spokane.Crews have laid the final steel beam for the new University District building that will house the two universities’ Spokane health partnerships. The U-W School of Medicine’s Spokane operation will be headquartered there, as well as its physician assistant and Gonzaga’s human physiology program.

“We’re excited to have a new building, state-of-the-art technology, our own anatomy lab. I think when we talk to them about it…we love being on the Gonzaga campus. We love being in the Schoenberg Center, but this is going to be a big upgrade for everybody and everybody is looking forward to it," said Dr. Darryl Potyk, the chief of medical education for the regional health partnership.

Construction on the University District building will continue for another year. Students will begin learning there in the summer of 2022.
