From the Studio: Spokane Civic Theatre Presents "White Christmas"

The second course of today's three-course theater meal was provided by members of Spokane Civic Theatre.  They were happy to chat with Verne and preview their upcoming performance of "White Christmas." Yes, I know what you're thinking, "It's too early for Christmas!"  Not for all these theater and performing groups, though. They've got a lot of rehearsing and planning to get in before their shows open shortly before or after Thanksgiving (which is only two weeks away, wow!), so Christmas, here we come.

Jean Hardie directs this performance run of "White Christmas," and she was joined in the studio by singers Kathie Doyle, Tami Knoell, and Kayla Mueller, who were accompanied on the piano by Henry McNulty.  The show opens November 20th and runs through December 19th.

Verne Windham got his start at Spokane Public Radio 20 years ago. “I came in to complain and they hired me.” He’s now the Program Director, as well as the host of Morning Classical and Concert of the Week. When choosing music for Morning Classical, Verne likes to keep the agenda as broadly defined as possible. For Concert of the Week, he focuses on the best of recent local performances, mostly classical in nature. For many years, Verne was also the conductor of the Spokane Youth Orchestra. He enjoys gardening, his vintage car and playing French horn.
