Ben Read lives in Portland, Oregon, where he works in research services at the Reed College Library and teaches at Catlin Gabel School. He received his BA in comparative literature from Reed College. He has also worked as a literary production intern at Spokane Public Radio and an editorial intern at Scablands Books, and he received the Mary Barnard Academy of American Poets Prize in 2020. Outside of his work, he plays basketball and dances tango.
