The Coeur d'Alene Casino has canceled a concert with 70's rocker Ted Nugent. Coeur d'Alene tribal officials decided to drop the event after what they called Nugent's history of "racist and hate filled remarks" was brought to their attention.
Heather Keen is the tribal public relations director. She didn't specify which remarks the tribe found offensive.
Keen: "I can't say it wasn't just one thing, it was really just a history of perpetuating hateful messages, and those kind of attitudes really clearly contradict the tribe's history of human rights work in the region."
Nugent has come under fire for comments he made in an interview with guns.com at the 2014 Shooting, Hunting, and Outdoor Tradeshow. Nugent was their representing the Outdoor Channel, and said in the interview:
Nugent: "... a communist nurtured subhuman mongrel, like the ACORN community organizer Barack Hussein Obama."
Later, Nugent said referring to President Obama as a "subhuman mongrel" was not a racist remark.
Keen said ticket-holders will receive refunds to the canceled show.
