Pasco Protesters Plan Float For Cinco De Mayo Parade

In Pasco, Washington a group of protesters has regularly closed down main streets and staged “die-ins” since February’s police shooting of farmworker Antonio Zambrano-Montes.

But with Cinco de Mayo coming, Tri-Cities Community Solutions wants people to know that they are not a threat.

Group member Eddie Enriquez said they want “justice” for Zambrano-Montes.

“We advocate peace,” he said. “We don’t want any destruction or anything like that. We want to resolve this peacefully.”

While protesting in front of Pasco's city hall, Enriquez and fellow demonstrators waved at cars holding signs. They’ve had free barbecues. Now, they are recruiting rappers for their Cinco de Mayo parade float.

Enriquez said the group is also planning free weekly community dinners in Kennewick, and service days doing yard work and chores for the elderly.
