For the second consecutive year, Shelly Short and Karen Hardy are competing for a Seventh District state Senate seat. Short, a Republican from Addy, moved up from the House to the Senate last year after Brian Dansel left the legislature. Short then won an election last November, winning 68% of the vote in defeating defeating Karen Hardy, a Democrat from Valley. Now the two are dueling again for a new four-year term.
