Spokane Has First Three Confirmed COVID-19 Cases

Doug Nadvornick/SPR

Spokane County Health Officer Bob Lutz has confirmed the county’s first three cases of Covid-19.

Lutz told reporters that he learned of the three confirmations this morning [Saturday]. They include a woman in her 40s who had contact with people in the Seattle area. She told health investigators that she’s feeling under the weather, but ok. She’s been told to stay home.

The second case is a man in his 50s; no more known about him. There are no specifics about the third person. Lutz says none of them are expected to need hospitalization.

Lutz says about results from 70 coronavirus tests from Spokane County are now known to the health district. All but the three were negative. He says he expects to begin receiving a more regular stream of results as more doctors order tests for their patients.

Spokane County has now activated its emergency coordination center to help with the logistics related to coronavirus. That group is expected to hold its first meeting on Monday.
