A More Perfect Union Interviews: Latinos en Spokane co-founder Jennyfer Mesa

Marketing

Jennyfer Mesa, a Latinx activist in Spokane, has been helping her community for years.

Through a Facebook group, Latinos en Spokane, Mesa would translate important community information. With the help of her co-founder, Mesa transformed that Facebook group into a non-profit, which seeks to make democracy and institutions more accessible.

The group worked to remove barriers in filling out the census, has helped translate ballots and has helped Latinx communities in Spokane access lifesaving health information during the pandemic.

Spokane Public Radio’s Rebecca White interviewed Mesa, about her work, and barriers Latinos face in participating in democracy.

This interview aired on Tuesday, June 28 during “A More Perfect Union.” Listen to the full program here.
